Schools Preparing for Start of Spring Semester|2/25中小學開學 高市發放校園防疫物資公視 (2020-02-24 00:00)
Elementary and junior high schools will reopen on Feb. 25. It is expected that disease prevention resources allocated by the central government to schools will be distributed fully by the same day.
The spring semester will open on the 25th, and the government has been delivering thermometers, masks and rubbing alcohol to schools. However, many schools say the central policy of one mask per student is inadequate.
The government is handing out fewer masks than there are students. Fortunately, we were able to get over 50 packs.
Kaohsiung City officials including Mayor Han Kuo-yu inspected campuses on the 24th. Schools will be taking temperatures at the door, quarantining people when necessary, and asking everyone to disinfect or wash their hands periodically. The local Education Bureau says only crossing guards and staff that have to interact with parents outside schools will be required to keep their masks on, and masks are not required on campus. Therefore, schools' extra masks will be handed out only when needed.
You only need to wear a mask if you are coughing, have a fever, or are feeling unwell. In general, you don't need to wear a mask when entering campus.
At the same time, the bureau says students should have masks on hand in case they are needed. In addition, parents should take their children's temperature regularly and keep children with fevers at home. Schools with larger student bodies can also consider installing infrared thermometer sensors to make the scanning process quicker.
